SPOT-MAS Multi-Cancer Early Detection

Multi-Cancer early Detection (MCED) Blood Test

SPOT-MAS is a non-invasive multi-cancer early detection (MCED) blood test that looks for circulating tumour DNA (ctDNA) in your blood.

Cancer cells release tiny pieces of their DNA (ctDNA) into the bloodstream, and this test is designed to find them.

Using sensitive laboratory methods and computer analysis, the technology works like a "liquid biopsy" to search for cancer-type changes in this DNA.

When such changes are found, it suggests that cancer may be present and can give clues about the possible cancery type, helping your doctor decide on the next tests and treatment plan.

Why is Early Detection Crucial?

There is a misconception that cancer diagnosis inevitably leads to death. However, this perception is often due to late-stage detection instead of ineffective treatment options.

Higher Chance of Survival

Lower Treatment Costs

Cancer Screening Programmes in Singapore According to MOH Guidelines

In Singapore, national population screening is recommended for breast, colorectal, lung and cervical cancer, with starting ages chosen to balance benefit, harms, and cost-effectiveness.

Breast Cancer

  • Age 40-49: Mammogram every year
  • Age 50-74: Mammogram every 2 years

Colorectal Cancer

For individuals aged 50 and above, one of the following screening options is recommended:

  • Faecal occult blood test (FOBT): every year
  • Colonoscopy: every 5-10 years

Lung Cancer

  • Age 50-80: Low-dose CT every year (for current and past smokers)

Cervical Cancer

  • Age 25-29: Pap smear every 3 years
  • Age ≥ 30: HPV DNA test every 5 years

How about Screening for other types of cancers?

Multi-cancer early detection (MCED) tests are designed to work alongside Singapore's national cancer screening programmes, providing a simple blood-based option in addition to the recommended screenings listed above.

Because many serious cancers do not have routine screening and are often diagnosed at a late stage, MCED technology looks for cancer-related signals from multiple organs using a single, non-invasive blood draw, helping to identify cancers that currently lack established screening tests.

What is SPOT-MAS?

Benefits of using CTDNA Technology

Convenience

Only one tube of blood is needed.

High Accuracy

High specificity limits false positive and unnecessary work-up.

Early Detection

Potential to identify cancer signals early.

Assurance

Capability to screen for cancers that lack established screening methods giving added peace of mind.

  • have a history of smoking more than 20 packs/year10

Liver Disease

  • have Hepatitis B or C11

Heavy Smokers

  • test positive for inherited cancer genes such as BRCA1, BRCA2, TP5312

Heavy Alcohol Drinkers

Steps for using SPOT-MAS

Informed Consent

  • Complete a brief questionnaire
  • To be signed by both Doctor and patient

Blood Collection

  • Only 1 vial of blood is needed for our SPOT-MAS test
  • Blood sample will be sent to our lab

DNA Extraction & Analysis

  • We use next-generation sequencing (NGS) and AI technology to analyze multiple features in your blood

RESULTS

  • Turn-around-time (TAT) takes about 12-18 days for your results to be out

Your Doctor will receive the report and follow up with you on the results

MCED testing should be repeated annually or as recommended by your doctor as a negative result does not rule out future cancer risks.
